Following the success of our Profiled Backlight™ series of LED backlights, OMC expanded the range to incorporate injection moulded lightguides which offer a number of benefits for medium to high volume applications.

Injection moulding the backlight lightguide has several advantages, including the ability to incorporate detailed features such as PCB mounting clips, stand-offs or complex shapes into the lightguide moulding, as well as a number of performance-enhancing optical features such as our Integrated SMS (Simulated Multi-Source™) spread-optimisation technology.

High volume users opting for a moulded-lightguide backlight will also benefit from the lower production costs associated with injection moulding.

Moulded backlights allow almost any feasible lightguide design to be accommodated. With setup costs starting from as little as £2k and minimum order quantities from 500 pieces, timescales for moulded backlights can be as low as 45 days from acceptance of order to delivery of first off prototypes.
