Fibredata™ brand for fibre related products, pioneering a number of technologies such as the application of polymer and large core glass fibres in high voltage electrical distribution and winning the UK National Electronic Component Award for innovation in 1993 after the successful introduction of the company's range of LED backlighting solutions, product areas which, through ongoing product evolution, the company continues to lead to this day.

In order to more accurately reflect the company’s ever expanding range of activities and product lines and the increasingly international nature of the company's market, in April 2000 the company took its current name, The Optoelectronic Manufacturing Corporation. While Fibredata™ and LED Technology™ remain trademarks of the company, these have now been largely superceded in favour of the OMC brand.

The Redruth site, which occupies approximately 8000 square metres (85,000sq.ft), remains dominant in the production of both glass and polymer optical fibre devices, assemblies, transmitters and receivers, edge-lit backlights, moulded and profiled lightguides and innovative custom optoelectronic parts. The company also offers a vast range of both pinned and surface-mount light-emitting diode components as well as LED displays, and maintains an extremely well-equipped R & D facility for the design and test of new developments and solutions.

In addition to data-communication, backlighting and indication components, OMC have introduced a range of high performance products designed for lighting applications, including high power light-emitting diodes and next generation surface-mount devices, as well as ‘building blocks’ such as sub-assemblies, drivers and controllers to facilitate the use of these high brightness devices in as wide a range of both industrial and architectural applications as possible, including large scale machinery, signage and both domestic and commercial lighting.

OMC has also recently introduced an exciting range of functional, low energy, extremely long-life finished LED lighting products aimed at replacing traditional lighting both for the commercial and domestic user.
